Varsity Cup coach Andy Royle is the new St Andrew’s Director of Rugby

The St Andrew’s College of Grahamstown December 2014 newsletter named Andrew Royle as their new Director of Rugby. He replaces Graeme College bound Allan Miles who’s achievements were also highlighted in the same newsletter. From the St Andrew’s College newsletter:

Mr Andrew Royle.

We have great pleasure in announcing the appointment of Mr Andy Royle as the new Director of Rugby at St Andrew’s College. Mr Royle has considerable experience, both overseas in Ireland where he coached Muskerry Rugby Football Club, and more recently at the University of the Witwatersrand where he was the Head Coach. Under Mr Royle’s astute coaching Wits won the Varsity Shield for two years in a row and then were promoted to the Varsity Cup. He is well qualified as a coach with a SARU Level 3 qualification, a Golden Lions Level 3 qualification, and he has also been part of the International Rugby Academy High Performance Course in New Zealand. We welcome the Royles to Grahamstown and hope that they have many happy and successful years at College.

Mr Allan Miles has accepted the position of Senior Housemaster at Graeme College as well as a full-time teaching post in EMS and Accounting.    Allan has been an integral part of the success of College rugby over the past five years.  He has put in wonderful structures and aspects of our play have improved out of all recognition.  Seldom have we been beaten in the loose rucks and mauls, and Allan can be proud of what he has achieved.   We wish him well as he starts a career as a full time teacher and know that we can expect some titanic struggles on the rugby field.
