Tragic news of the u18 French player missing at Diaz beach while swimming with the team. Keeping him, his family and teammates in our thoughts.

Jou laaste 2 post is lagwekkend.

Maybe all schoolboy rugby schedules and competitions at school level should be finalised by the end of July every year. Then August belongs to SARU and the SA School players and competitions, and they can arrange all the international games during the month of August. That is the only solution to this conundrum. This should become the law and the norm. Can the powers to be not get this agreeme
    nt in place in future?

I would think the cost saving is more to do with having SAS and university hostels available for accommodation for teams then anything else. Boarding facilities aren’t that available at other schools during the school term for teams to make use of them.

    Honest question, no stirring

Year in and year out these games are scheduled over the same period that the Noordvaal Cup semi and finals are. Or some other massive interschools. Really sad that they have not find an alternative arrangement yet. Schools will play these very important games without their star players . Really sad

Teams (competitions) impacted by the Internationals:
NV Cup: EG Jansen & Garsfontein (2 players each …)
may have impact on play-off games, marginal on pool standings
    Grey & PRG (6 and 4 players …)
top of the rankings fixture on top of pride
    SS 2024: Rondebosch & Wynberg (3 and 5 players …)
RBHS vs SACS (full teams), RBHS vs WBHS (impacted), SACS vs WBHS and RBHS vs Bishops (impacted) – leaves a gap for SACS or Wynberg to haul in Rondebosch

I hear you on the cost saving point, probably accurate as many are WP reps. But still there are always players from Bloem,Pretoria, JHB, KZN as well; and our KZN derbies get great crowds too. If they held a game at Northwood in central Durban North I would like to think there would be a great crowd. Well we can hope…

I know Cape Town is the jewel of SA, but these junior bok/SA Schools tournmanets are always played in the Cape, but happen during winter, which is always wet and windy. Same when the Cape has hosted Craven Week. Most of the games end up being played in rainy, wed, muddy, fields.

Why dont they host them in KZN for a change, where its 25-30 degrees each day, with sunshine for weeks on end? We have some amazing school fields and facilities which get used by the International teams and URC teams all year round (eg Northwood and DHS), and could host large crowds – and players/teams could stay in Umhlanga; Or we could use the Private schools like Kearsney, Hilton or Michaelhouse who could even host all the players as well.

Just something I have noticed – would make a nice change and make more sense to actually see these great young players being able to play the game and run with the ball and not just scrap it out in wet sludgy conditions most of the time.

Stem saam.
