Four Noordvaal Cup premier league schools will headline the final weekend of round-robin matches in the NWU Skolesportreeks rugby. The way the table positions are setup, these matches effectively serve as the semifinals ahead of the finals on 20 April 2024.
Group 1 sees the Nelspruit Rhinos host group leaders Menlopark of Pretoria. The Parkies under the guidance of new coach Andries Ferreira are on the road to recovery after a terrible 2023 rugby year. Nellies, coached by Hennie Skorbinski have shown they possess a knockout punch but don’t always produce it on the big occasions. A home win will be treasured but it will take a huge effort for the Laeveld powerhouse to overturn the five point lead Menlo holds over them. So good money is on Menlo to be in the main final at Eldoraigne on 20 April 2024.
Group 2 leaders are Dr EG Jansen, one of the top schoolboy rugby teams of 2024. Regardt Botha’s very impressive Boksburg boys are unbeaten in all matches so far this season. Their opponents in the OosRand will be Cobus van Dyk’s Waterkloof, who have also made a solid start to this season, with highly rated Paul Roos being the only school able to stop them in their five matches.

As ek so kyk na die logs gaan Middelburg twee derbies hê hierdie jaar.

Jip, the boys like to be on the same buses back home as the netball and hockey girls!
I think these cup competitions assist the Co-ed schools sports co-ordinators a great deal. Instead of the hassle of being one of a number of high schools trying to arrange fixtures for rugby, hockey and netball for a series of Saturdays, they sign up to the NWU and the Noordvaal Cup and the fixtures get sorted out with minimal fuss.
I look at Outeniqua who don’t have that luxury. Last Saturday is Netball vs Framesby and Hockey in Paarl. This weekend rugby in Bloem, Hockey in Gqeberha, Netball provincial trials.

Yes the two teams on top plays for 1st and 2nd position in the finals. The 2nd teams play for 3 and 4. The 3rd teams for 5 and 6. The 4th teams play for 7 and 8 positions

And what is the difference between “NWU Skole” and the “NWU Prestige”?
How does the comp work, top group 1 plays top group 2 in a final?
@BoishaaiPa (Comment #2)
Hulle speel Augusta die week
Why is Garsies, Affies, Monnas, etc not part of this?
Menlo could lose and still make the final?
