Stellenberg & SACS meet for the first time since 2018

It feels like an age since Stellenberg and SACS last met. They had an unofficial match back in 2019 but the last proper match was in 2018 when the Jade Brigade defeated the Young Ikeys 25-22.

There is no such thing as an easy game in the Western Cape. Both teams are acutely aware of this and how import it is to register a “W” in a winable fixture. So this one is nicely teed up for a good, even contest. Visitors SACS want to show that their 1st XV rugby is still on an upward curve, while Stellies are desperate to get that first win of the season, after a very challenging start, which included matches against Paarl Gim and Affies.

Sadly SACS will be without their livewire scrumhalf and captain Seth Bradford, while the availability of dependable lock Sebastian Johnston is doubtful and at best he may come off the bench for the hosts.

Key players for SACS include the BBC (big ball carrier) Connor King at 8, general Rayaan Solomons at 10 and always a threat Jack Benade at the back. Hooker Almero Keizer is possibly the Jades’ best chance at Craven Week representation this season. Jackal Alex Schoeman is always a pleasure to watch. At 13, Estian Steyn is someone who likes to asks questions of the defence.
