Eastern Province complete Craven Week trials

Eastern Province trials weekend has just past and their provincial youth teams should be out by midweek.

Eastern Province stands out as the schoolboy rugby rainbow region of South Africa. Its the one place where there is a good blended representation of race groups – African, Coloured and White as well the languages – Afrikaans, English and Xhosa.

Sadly one player who is out of contention for a provincial recall is Grey High School hooker and captain Imaani Pemba, who damaged his collarbone at trials a few weeks back. Pemba would have been in the reckoning for SA Schools honours. In spite of Grey’s dominance in the province, their players continue to find the path to Craven Week selection fairly difficult.

Below are two of the four under-18 teams that competed as part of the final selection process.
