One of the school news events that might have gone unnoticed during 2021, is that the Blouskool and Rooiskool rivalry in Kroonstad is no more. How so? Well the two schools have merged to form one bigger school called TRIO.
The two schools were literally across the road from each other in Kroonstad, Free State’s third largest town, which falls under the Griffons provincial banner for rugby.
While the old school names tended to be a little confusing with one being Hoërskool Kroonstad (Blou) and the other being Afrikaanse Hoërskool Kroonstad (Rooi), the new name seems to stand out as being unique and appears to be anything but conservative, at least until one learns what Trio stands for:
