Who makes your team of the season 2018?

In terms of SA Schools selecton it’s a good year to be a lock and a bad year to be a hooker.

The compo at hooker is off the charts. With the likes of Morne Brandon (Monument & SA Schools 2017), JJ Kotze (Paul Roos), Jacques Goosen (Selborne), Jason Alexander (Wynberg), Janco Uys (Affies) and Andre-Hugo Venter (Grey College) amongst those competing for the berth, we are talking high quality.

At lock returning SA Schools player Adrian Alberts (HJS Paarl Boys’ High) looks like shoo-in. Otherwise it looks like an open race. Not too many 2m+ players and not many who have put their hands up high. The decision by Monnas lock Stephan le Roux to drop out of school and head over to France might prove to be quite a blow.

    @Grizzly:

    Kan verkeert wees maar SARU gaan nie ‘n “gameplan” verander om ‘n 12 te hê wat soos Owen Farrell in die Engeland span speel nie of soortgelyk aan jou Carter voorbeeld.

    Dan De Wet Marais is sonder twyfel SA Skole kwaliteit hierdie jaar.

    @Grizzly: Die skole moet game met week probeer uitstel, dit gaan die grootste anti klimaks wees in skole rugby in laaste 10 jaar as die 2 onoorwonne spanne teen mekaar speel sonder SA skole spelers.

    @Smallies: Gravenweek gaaaaap…..ek vat my sabbatical tot ons weer Virseker kan kyk….die beste 15 in SA is Scheepers van Garsies wat nie daar is nie.Ek sal Benard vd Linde op 12 kies…soos Carter wat as 12 begin het vir die All Blacks…Diego sal heeltemal n ander speler wees.Beste 10 in die land is Grey 10..punt.

    Jonker will definitely be my first choice 12! Also not sure with Appollis on 15.
    Hope to see some of Bernard v/d Linde’s magic at CW.

    @PaarlBok: No brainer?
    Die geskiedenis wys die teenoorgestelde. Bv. WP wen gewoonlik wanneer hul skolespanne sterk is (WP het meeste eindstryde gewen) – beide Cravenweek en Grant Khomo. Kyk net na die geskiedenis hoe WP-skole skolerugby oorheers en dit spoel oor na provinsiale rugby.
    Ek dink dit het baie met die afrigtingspan te make – om ‘n groep spelers uit verskillende skole saam te voeg in ‘n eenheid en dan reg te speel.

    @Djou: Om provinsiale oefenwedstryde uitslae aan skole se sterkte te meet is n no brainer, dalk miskien die Vrystaat.

    @AntonT: @Smallies: Met Outeniqua en Oakdale albei beter gerank as Grey sou mens verwag het dat SWD ver moes wen, of hoe? Well done aan die Cheetahs om die een deur te trek. As ek reg onthou het die Cheetahs ook die Sharks gewen op die Bondedag.
    En hoe gebeur dit dat Grens vir WP wen – veral met so ‘n sterk span van Paarl Gim?
    Die Bulle het ook hul nederlaag teen die Leeus in ‘n oefenwedstryd “gewreek”!

    @Smallies: Ja, en as Vrystaat nie ‘n strafskop in die laaste minuut oorgesit het nie sou SWD hulle geklop het. SWD het ook 5 driee gedruk teen Vrystaat se 4… eindtelling 32-31

    Flanke van Grey, Wolhuter van PRG op 15 en Appolis na 13 dan is die A span naby op sy beste.

    @Grey Brak: 100% agree. Dylan Pretorius is an outstanding player and Regardt Roets I don’t know if we have seen the best of his form this year, so if he brings it to CW he could challenge for many people’s top spot.

    I’m really keen to see Transvalia flyhalf Zian de Jager, Hermanus flyhalf Lionel April and Reece Wynne of Curro Heuwelkruin who gave a good account of himself at CW last year

    Reuse Fout om nie vir De Wet Marais in die mix te he nie,tussen hom en Gouws, het hulle vir Roos en Alberts stil gespeel teen BH, elke game die jaar is hy n faktor, hy gaan n paar ouens raak ry by die craven week

    The flyhalf position also seems relatively open for debate. Apart from the Zander du Plessis and Juan Mostert I also highly rate Regardt Roets and Dylan Pretorius.
