    Please check but I don’t think Frans Cronje was a no8 – I think he played hooker. Hansie was a No 8. Also, I’m sure Shaun Gage played hooker in 84 and not 85.

    Carswell in 84 was a flank.
    Pieter de Haas made the 86 team as flyhalf despite playing centre for Grey – on the list of 17 players you list 4 centers.
    Warren Ingles was scrum half in 87. Theron was the other hooker.
    Andre Heugh was hooker in 88. Andrew Claasen was centre. Clayton Waite was fullback.

    Was saam op UPE – hy was ‘n moerse nice ou.

    1982 Friedrich Knoetze wing – he was one of the lawyers that died in that freak flood in the Stormsriver gorge.

    1986 Jaco Swanepoel wing – played SA schools cricket as well.

    1986 Dick Brown prop – he was a monster and probably the most naturally talented prop I ever saw.

    @Couchmavin: Dis Brendan se broer. Andre het CW vanaf 1988 tot 1991 gespeel (4 jaar), waarvan 3 SAS was. Sy 1991 jaar was post matriek. Hy het ook ‘n paar games vir Oos-Tvl gespeel.

    @Grizzly: Ek dink weer dit is dieselfde persoon. Brendan 1987 in Monument gewees en toe in Bloemfontein gaan studeer na skool. Ek dink Andre was in 1989 nog in Monument en daarna Grey Bloem toe nader aan ouboet.Slegs spekulasie van my kant af.Het ysterflank Springbok Andre Venter SA skole gespeel?

    Andre Venter 3 jaar van 1989 tot 1991 op senter? Sekerlik dan Brendan se broer en nie flank Andre Venter nie? Hoekom het hy nooit dieselfde hoogtes as ouboet bereik nie? Beserings? Is dit ooit moontlik om 3jaar te speel? Hy moes n briljante rugbyspeler gewees het.

    If memory serves correctly:

    1974: Geldenhuys was a lock at school, flank after school;
    Matthysen was a prop;
    Rautenbach a lock.
    1977: Daffue lock / flank
    Marais – hooker
    Nell – fullback
    Prinsloo – lock (first player from Eastern FS to make SA Schools)
    Richter – wing

    1978: Joubert – centre
    Fourie – FH / FB

    1979: Botha – lock
    Sadie – flank (?) – I’ll confirm this one
    Nel – lock

    1981: Leon Botha – wing. That was the year Grey had 6 boys in the team; all six from
    their backline!
    Conrad de Beer – SH not FH
    Scheepers Gouws – FH
    André Greyling – centre

    1986: Jaco Swanepoel – wing (also SA Schools cricket)

    1988: McIntyre – prop

    1990: Linde – prop

    1991: Botes – flyhalf – first Affies boy to make SA SChools

    1992: Oosthuizen – wing

    1993 – Derksen – FH / CT
    Willemse – Wing
