Redefining the Role of a Rugby Coach at Boishaai: A New Chapter for Sean Erasmus<\/h3>\n

Sean Erasmus, South African Schoolboy rugby\u2019s most successful current head coach, is once again aiming for the dizzy heights that saw him lead Paarl Boys\u2019 High to three successive undefeated local seasons, topped with first place national ranking finishes. His second spell in charge of Boishaai has not been as glamorous as his initial years, but there are valid reasons for this. Now, with his role being redefined and refocused on his core strengths, there is a renewed sense of optimism that the 1st XV will achieve more consistent, top-end performances that will make their supporters proud.<\/p>\n

A Shift in Responsibilities<\/h3>\n

The role of a top school rugby coach is a demanding one, with the balance between coaching and extensive administrative duties often stretching the best of them. For Sean, Head Coach at Boishaai, this responsibility is now being refocused to allow him to concentrate on what he\u2019s truly passionate about\u2014coaching.<\/p>\n

In the past, Sean not only coached the 1st XV but also managed nearly 50 coaches, oversaw program development, and handled all the logistical aspects of running a large rugby system. This was a massive undertaking, and the burden of it all had begun to take its toll.<\/p>\n

However, with the appointment of Neil de Bruin (son of the legendary Swys de Bruin), a former colleague from their time coaching the Lions, the responsibilities are now shifting. Neil will take on much of the administrative and strategic planning for the rugby program, freeing up Sean to focus fully on the 1st XV and working directly with the players.<\/p>\n

However, Neil and Sean have always agreed to discuss ideas and strategies together, and that\u2019s something they really excited about.
