21 January, 2016 beet 224

Included: letter from Parktown detailing their views as well as a letter issued by KES to their own community prior to the Parktown letter

Parktown has withdrawn (suspended) sporting fixtures against KES in the interim. The two schools are busy talking about this so there are chances that the Parktown issues will be resolved. Two ex-Parktown boys were amongst a group of 20 odd boys (some from state schools, some from independent both boys and co-ed schools) who enrolled from grade 9 -11 at KES this year and are the cause of Parktown’s decision.…

10 January, 2016 beet 25

When it comes to announcing the newest members of their rugby fraternity it’s unusual for the Bulls to be slow out of the starting blocks. This time around for whatever reasons, the Bulls have delayed their squad release, even though the last of the kids born in 1997 is over the SARU stipulated minimum contracting age of 18.…

Centurion & Eldoraigne kill two birds with one stone

4 January, 2016 beet 0

A smart joint decision has been made by Centurion and Eldoraigne. They have agreed to have their Tuks Reeks match in March double as a Beeld Bulls Macro B-league encounter. As a result the two Pretoria Co-eds avoid having to play each other twice via scheduled matches. There is however no guarantee that they won’t meet during the knockout phase of either cup competition.

2 Grant Khomo under-16 teams for hosts WP

9 December, 2015 beet 1

It’s an overworked complaint on the blog but does it ever get old? No it doesn’t! It’s just logical that given the depth of schoolboy rugby talent existing in their region, Western Province should have two representative teams at each and every one of the July school holiday provincial youth weeks. The 2016 Grant Khomo Week takes place at Paarl Gymnasium and two WP teams will be participating. With the 50:50 quota seemingly having the least impact on the overall standard of play of teams along the Cape coastal belt , the next question is what are the chances of an all-WP final at Grant Khomo Week 2016? Here are the Day 1 fixtures:

FIELD SCHOOL SCHOOL
A Blue Bulls Limpopo
A KwaZulu-Natal Pumas
A Western Province XV Griffons
A Golden Lions Free State
A Western Province Boland
B Zimbabwe Border CD
B Valke Griquas CD
B SWD Namibia
B Border Leopards
B Eastern Province Griquas
